Writing is the artifact of the relationships I build. My professional writing involves a dialogue with different worlds: being able to navigate between cultures, I intend to turn my writing into a path through which people speaking radically different languages could understand each other. In a sense, it is similar to the work of translation — which I also enjoy doing.
Academically trained in Anthropology and Spanish at Tufts University, I eventually landed on reporting Latin America and China with a perspective informed by local knowledge, agri-food, popular politics, and culture.
My recent work has been focusing on the storytelling potential of coffee, human stories about Chinese businesses’ expansion in Latin America, rising artists bridging Chinese and Latin music, etc.
I am mostly found talking to random people in cafés, hanging out in handicraft markets, making coffee, or dancing salsa.
